Chairman Francis Tolentino of the Metro Manila Development Authority said new village executives will be trained on emergency response.
He said the barangay’s disaster preparedness formed the frontline in dealing with calamities at the grassroots level. Most of the newly elected barangay officials have no experience on disaster and risk reduction management, he said.
According to Tolentino, trained barangay officials would be the force multiplier of MMDA volunteers and personnel, he said. Tolentino said training is set to start in December, giving priority to villages located in low lying areas, near waterways and faultiness.
