Government hospitals in the path of an approaching potential super typhoon are now on white alert, a Department of Health official said late November 6 Wednesday. National Epidemiology Center head Dr. Enrique Tayag also gave safety tips for residents in areas that may be affected by Typhoon Haiyan.
"Hospitals in Yolanda's path on white alert. Essential hospital personnel (are) on standby,"Tayag said on his Twitter account. The DOH said a Code White alert is adopted when there is a forecast cyclone or a national holiday.
Under Code White, emergency service personnel at the hospital dorm shall be placed on call status while emergency medicines should be made available.Earlier, PAGASA said Haiyan is expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility between midnight November 6 Wednesday and before dawn November 7 Thursday. |
