Chennai: Its 5 years of journey completed on September 15. GVK EMRI that operates 108 Ambulance service partnering with Tamil Nadu Health Systems Project saved over 1 lakh lives that were reported critical, across the state. Over all, the service has touched the lives of over 23 lakh people in Tamil Nadu so far.
Any patient, who fits a certain criteria including abnormal vital parameters and survives after 48 hours of initial emergency treatment can be considered critical, said an official of EMRI.
Be it a labourer in Palladam near Tirupur, who survived a bus accident even after a side railing pierced through his chest or a family of four that lay trapped inside a crushed car for hours on the highway near Villupuram, 108 ambulance service have been there saving these lives. |
