Banke: The Bheri Zonal Hospital is facing difficulties to provide maternity care to women admitted to the maternity ward due to a lack of sufficient beds. Doctors in the hospital said 6 post-natal women are being treated on the corridor of the ward after all the 32 beds in the ward are occupied.The doctors said some women, who gave birth through surgical processes, have suffered infections as they are kept on the floor where attendants and visitors walk.
Health workers said 15 to 30 women visit the maternity ward for various services on a daily basis. Dr Pitambar Subedi, chief of thehospital , said they are forced to treat patients on the floor due to a lack of beds. The maternity ward is said to be receiving 400 pregnant women per month. Of them, 80 women give birth through the Cesarean process. |
