Thiruvananthapuram: The state police will operate 19 new ambulances as part of \'seamless medical intervention for life care and emergency\' (SMILE), an initiative aimed at reducing road accidents. \r\nThe initiative will be undertaken in association with health department to ensure timely intervention and help from the police.Traffic and highway police will be trained to respond immediately to road accidents and capitalise on the \'golden hour\', the first hour after an accident that could mean the difference between life and death. |
