Schools Give Training in First Aid to Students

Hubli: Teaching first aid to children provides them with the essential skills that can be life-saving. Simple accidents like tripping or slipping and falling or twisting an ankle might seem a trivial part of the school life, but they are capable of causing serious injuries. Realizing this, many schools in the city are now making their students aware of the importance of first aid service.

Experts from various hospitals are teaching children first aid during free health check-up camps. During these awareness programmes, experts tell students about the dos and don'ts in situations like injuries, accidents, snake bites, bee stings, fire accidents, drowning and electric shock.

They demonstrate on how to handle fractures, arrest bleeding and also administer Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation. Schools believe this small effort will make their students learn to safeguard their own health and help others in emergency.
