Govt Mulls Building Trauma Centres along Highways


Dhaka: The government has been planning to establish trauma unit in the upazila hospitals adjacent to the highways to provide emergency medical services for the road accident victims. Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim made the statement in the parliament on Tuesday (June 21).

Replying to a query, the minister said the number of doctors and nurses in the public hospitals is less than the demand. “At present there are 77,000 registered doctors in the country while the dental surgeons are 6,976.”
