US Specialists to Train 70 Doctors in Trauma Care


Mumbai: Ahead of the inauguration of the state emergency medical services (EMS), US trauma care specialists will conduct a 2-day training programme for 70 state doctors at JJ Hospital, Byculla, on June 18 Tuesday. The first phase of the Rs 1,000-crore EMS is likely to become operational in July-August, mainly in Mumbai.Maharashtra's EMS is touted to be the biggest such service in the world, with a fleet of over 900 free ambulances. The four-member American team includes Dr Navin Shah Dr T Scalea, Dr Amy Hildreth and Dr. Manjari Joshi. The doctors, who teach at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and Wake Forest School of Medicine, North Carolina, will offer two fully paid one-week scholarships for local doctors to visit their centres.
